Apple Picking in Hood River

By Kelsey Samsel | Things To Do

We love visiting Hood River in the fall.

We particularly love going apple picking in Hood River because it’s fun, family-friendly, and absolutely beautiful. Whether you drive to Hood River by way of the Columbia River Gorge or Mt. Hood, you are going to see beautiful views along the way.

So, hop in the car and head to one or all three of these awesome orchards, and don’t forget to take pictures and tag us on Instagram with #discovermthood!

1. Kiyokawa Family Orchards – This family-run farm produces apples, pears, cherries, pears, and cider-making apples. Stop by their fruit stand to grab fruit and a har of fresh, local honey, or pick your own. Their orchard is the largest in the area!

2. Mt. View Orchards – This orchard has many varieties of apples and other fruit, live animals to see, a fruit stand, and an amazing view of Mt. Hood. Mt. View Orchards is also home to The Grateful Vineyard and they produce their own cider under the name Golden Row. Read about our experience at Mt. View here.

3. Hood River U-Pick Organic – This family-run orchard produces Organic Honey Crisp and Gala apples along with cherries (in the summer) and various other veggies and flowers. Hood River U-Pick Organic has a petting zoo that is fun for kids and picnic tables if you want to bring your lunch with you!
