Apple Picking at Mt. View Orchards

It’s apple season! We have been to Mt. View twice now and it’s one of our favorite orchards in Hood River. The owner and employees are incredibly kind and helpful and seem to genuinely love what they do.

With 50 acres and over 50 years of familial dedication, they have built an incredible business. More recently, they started making their own cider and it’s some of the best we have ever had. (More on that later!)

They also have a small (but gorgeous) dahlia field and pumpkin patch right now. Next to the pumpkin patch is a playground for kids with plenty of space for them to safely run around.

Apples & Pears

According to the experts from Mt. View Orchards, you have until the end of October to pick your favorite apples. It’s very easy to start picking once you arrive. Just grab a wagon, a map, and a picking tool and start walking through the orchard.

When you are done picking, take a walk through the fruit stand. There will probably be some options you weren’t able to find in the orchard.

If you are interested in apple and pear butters, jams, honey, or Mt. View merchandise, they have that too. Grab a free sticker and bottle opener on your way to the register!

GOLDEN ROW CIDER

For those of you who are 21+, don’t leave without getting a free sample of their Golden Row Cider. It’s delicious and the flavors are perfectly balanced. You better believe we bought a growler to take home with us. They are currently building a tasting room which will open in 2019!

CARLOS THE STEER

Want to see some entertaining pigs and Carlos the Steer? Walk all the way down the path to the end of the orchard and turn right to get to the animals. You might get to see the pigs rolling around in the mud.

Mt. View has everything an apple orchard should. You can pick apples, pears, dahlias, and pumpkins, taste some cider, and visit the animals. On the weekends they even have cider donuts!
