Oceanside Oregon – Two Night Itinerary

By Kelsey Samsel | Things To Do

Oceanside Oregon is one of our favorite destinations for a two night getaway. If you are visiting Oregon, you should definitely take some time to drive to the beach.

We suggest using Whispering Woods Resort on Mt. Hood as a home base and spending two nights in one of our many beach towns.

Depending on how long you stay, you could easily spend a week exploring the Oregon Coast and another week on Mt. Hood.

My husband and I recently spent two nights in Oceanside, Oregon. I grew up going to the coast but had never spent any time in Oceanside. Now that I have been, I definitely want to go back.

Oceanside is a tiny town about 15-20 minutes past Tillamook, Oregon. We were lucky enough to have sunshine in November so the weather was absolutely perfect and we even enjoyed a lovely sunset.

So if you think you might want to take a little trip down to Oceanside, Oregon, keep reading to see what we suggest!

book a place to stay

My husband and I booked this great little Airbnb right by the beach. It had two bedrooms, a fireplace, a full kitchen and a view of the ocean through trees. It was so beautiful and peaceful.

If you visit Oceanside, I would suggest checking Airbnb or seeing if the Three Arch Inn has any openings because it’s right on the beach.

Oceanside, Oregon – DAY 1

tillamook cheese factory

The Tillamook Creamery was recently remodeled and is open to visitors year ’round. Entrance is free and it’s a great experience.

You can sample cheeses, take a self-guided tour throughout the factory and, before you leave,  get a scoop of fresh Tillamook ice cream.

FOOD & COFFEE DURING YOUR OCEANSIDE Oregon TRIP

We arrived in the late afternoon and chose to get groceries at the Fred Meyer in Tillamook. It was on the way to our Airbnb and we decided to stop because there are only a couple small markets for basics once you get into town.

Oceanside has a couple of restaurants, but we didn’t eat at any of them during our stay. Instead, we went exploring.

For lunch, we ate at a Hawaiian food truck called Nani Papa’s in Tillamook. It was so good that we ate there two days in a row.

We got the teriyaki chicken on the first day and the Kalua Pig on the second day. The portions were huge and the food was delicious.

One of my favorite beach coffee shops is in Tillamook as well. It’s called Five Rivers Roasters and it’s really close to the Tillamook Cheese Factory.

We haven’t had food from Five Rivers, but it looks like they have great sandwiches!

Once you get settled in, check out the nearby beach. Oceanside Oregon is small, so your vacation rental will most likely be close to the water. If not, you can drive to the local beach and park in their large parking lot.

DAY 2

Visit cape meares lighthouse

There’s a really great little lighthouse about ten minutes from Oceanside Oregon in Cape Meares. It was closed for the winter, but we were still able to see it up close. This is a great spot for an incredible view of the ocean.

SHOP IN NEARBY ROCKAWAY

If you want see more of the Oregon Coast, I suggest you drive about 40 minutes to Rockaway Beach. We stopped at Nani Papa’s for lunch before heading out to Rockaway.

There are some cute, fun shops on the main strip. My husband’s family had a beach house in Rockway when he was a teenager so we drive through whenever we can.

We stopped at Flamingo Jim’s first, which is a classic beach shop. They have beach themed t-shirts and sweatshirts, personalized keychains, shells, saltwater taffy, and so much more.

You can’t visit the beach without eating some saltwater taffy, and Flamingo Jim’s has you covered.

Another of our favorite stops is Little White Church Antiques. It’s run by two really kind ladies and, you guessed it, it’s in an old church building. They have a mixture of new and vintage (mostly vintage) things throughout the shop.

Get cozy in oceanside Oregon

Spend your second evening back at your rental with snacks and a fire if you have a fireplace. If it’s not raining, you could also build a fire on the beach.

Whatever you choose to do, have a great time and live in the moment. We think the Oregon Coast is a perfect vacation spot whether it’s sunny or dreary.

There are so many beaches to choose from on the Oregon Coast. They are all beautiful, but we think Oceanside is definitely worth a visit.
